NEOFECT Stories - John
John was diagnosed with hemiplegia at the age of 11. His father came across the NEOFECT Smart Kids device on YouTube. The consistent bio-feedback and data reports as well as the variety of intriguing games prompted John’s parents to purchase the rehabilitation device for John with the hopes of improving his condition.
Where did you engage in rehab and how long did it take?
John has only ever done occupational therapy through the hospital where his doctors are at. He is currently doing Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy for 30 minutes a day.
Why did you decide to look for additional tools for at-home rehab? Were there other devices that you purchased or considered?
We were not looking for any devices, but when my husband was watching a video game walkthrough on YouTube an ad popped up on the side of the screen for the NEOFECT Smart Kids. We were excited about what the therapy device could do for John. Prior to using NEOFECT Smart Kids, we were pulling pennies out of putty, which was the one exercise they gave us to do at Shriners.
Where did you get the information about the rehab solutions?
We got some information from the CHASA - Children’s Hemiplegia and Stroke Association. However, most of my information comes from word of mouth. I discuss many things with a co-worker of mine who also has a granddaughter that has Hemiplegia.
When and how did you first find out about the NEOFECT Smart Kids?
We found out about it from an online ad.
Why did you choose NEOFECT Smart Kids among the options? What were the critical factors when you chose the product?
The consistent bio-feedback was a big factor in our deciding to purchase the Smart Kids device. The critical factor for me was being able to get a data report for any session at any time. Additionally, the element of gameplay spoke to me as a mom.
How easy do you feel that it was to obtain the product?
I found the process to be very easy. I sent an email inquiry online and also called the number directly.
What functional changes have you noticed in your son since you started using the product?
John is willing to do his therapy exercises without me having to remind him.
Are you aware of the opportunity for follow up with one of our clinicians? If you haven’t followed up, what would keep someone from participation in a follow up video visit?
Yes, I am aware of the opportunity to have another session with a clinician, but because the sessions are so easy to follow along with, I haven’t booked another session with an OT. I am keeping our additional session “in reserve” in the event that we may want to use it at another time down the line.
What advice would you give to someone that’s thinking about coming on board with the NEOFECT Smart rehab system?
I would tell them to do it if the parents want a rehab devices that will engage their child with games. John loves the games and has fun with them.
